BHT Sussex is a fantastic organisation to work for and my colleagues support me to meaningfully embed lived experience into the services I support. I am passionate about de-institutionalisation and facilitating a sense of hope and recovery as I know that it's completely possible to find greater levels of stability and self actualisation following severe and enduring mental illness - the right support can make all the difference! From volunteering with Mind as a creative arts facilitator 15 years ago it's been great to align my values with those of BHT Sussex. The Pathfinder Mental Health recovery service I oversee supports equity and timely support which does not aim to clinically treat but rather connect people with the community, aligning well with the World Health Organisation's definition of wellbeing. At Pathfinder we support people with mild to moderate mental health issues and work as part of a wider NHS system of stepping down, stepping up and across as relevant to presenting need.
