Owen Wellstead
Deputy Manager Archway – Mental Health & Wellbeing ServicesAt 14, I started as a newspaper delivery boy, at 15 a milk round, followed by working in a supermarket at 16. By 18, I became a pharmaceutical auditor. At 20, I found myself in the Australian outback sheep and cattle farming, realising this was a magnificent job. At 21, I had the joy of managing parts of the outback the size of Wales. Later, I worked in Malaysia, reconnecting with the outdoors. By 31, I held BSc and MSc degrees in psychology. Now, I contribute to mental health at BHT Sussex and assist in running the Step-Down program. While I miss the freedom of Australia’s land, the work we do in Brighton brings me immense happiness as we make a significant difference in people’s lives.
