Owen Wellstead
Deputy Manager Archway – Mental Health & Wellbeing ServicesAt 14, I began my working life as a newspaper delivery boy. By 15, I had added a milk round, and at 16, I moved into retail with a supermarket position. At 18, I transitioned into pharmaceutical auditing, and at 20, I ventured to the Australian outback, where I worked in sheep and cattle farming - a role I considered truly remarkable. By 21, I was managing areas of land comparable in size to Wales. Later, I travelled some of the world and I spent time in Malaysia, reconnecting with the outdoors. By 31, I had earned both a BSc and MSc in Psychology. Today, I contribute to mental health services at BHT Sussex and help run the Step-Down program. While I miss the vast freedom of the Australian landscape, the work we do in Brighton brings me immense fulfilment at an 'Outstanding' level as we make such a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
