We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Recovery Worker to play a vital role in providing support at Archway, a residential service for adults with mental health care and support needs in Hove.

Salary: £25,951 (Total salary comprises of day rate and a sleep-in rate and includes £1430 anti-social hours enhancement)

About the project:
Archway is a residential service offering 24-hour support for those with mental health care and support needs. The service provides holistic person centred and recovery focused care, which encourages independence by focusing on clients’ strengths and goals. We work closely with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust adult community mental health services to meet the needs of clients. We help bridge the gap between hospital and the community by encouraging people to develop a greater understanding of what keeps them well, safe and motivated, and we value collaborative working and co-production. The support the service offers to clients includes 1:1 support via a keyworker and team support, medication administration, the provision of food and meal support, wellbeing activities, and support to identify future accommodation opportunities.
Archway consists of three residential properties in Hove. This role will work across the Sackville Gardens services:
Step Down (Sackville Gardens) is a 5-bed service providing short-term (up to 16 weeks), intensive support for people who are medically fit to leave hospital and need support to develop their independence to move into longer-term accommodation.
Sackville Gardens is a 5-bed service providing placements up to 2-years for people requiring 24-hour residential care and support with the aim of helping clients move on to less supported accommodation. This is a new addition to the Archway service.
Portland Road is a 9-bed service providing placements up to 2-years for people requiring 24-hr residential care and support with the aim of helping clients move on to less supported accommodation.
Archway is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and have a rating of ‘Outstanding’
About the role:
As a Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will be working for a people-led organisation whose mission and values is to inspire change across Sussex. You will be supporting the team and clients with the delivery of person-centred care and support to empower people to live with greater independence and to improve their wellbeing.
The role of a Mental Health Recovery Worker is akin to that of a support worker. As part of a team, you will provide person-centred, holistic support to clients with mental health care and support needs. You will develop professional relationships with clients based on trust, which will enable effective and empathic emotional support. You will provide practical support in a range of areas with an emphasis on clients developing life skills and confidence to live independently. You will ensure the day-to-day running of the service is carried out efficiently and effectively. You will hold a caseload of clients and the support you will offer to clients will include: 1:1 support via a keyworker and team support, supporting clients to develop and build on their existing daily living skills towards greater independence, medication administration, the provision of food and meal support, wellbeing activities, and support to identify future accommodation opportunities.
This role operates on a two-week rolling rota and includes the following shifts:
Early: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Late: 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Night/Sleep-In: 4:00 PM - 10:00 PM (followed by sleep-in) and 8:00 AM - 10:00 AM
Please note that shift times may vary; the hours listed provide a general idea of average shift times. This role includes working every other weekend and some bank holidays, depending on your individual rota pattern.
Your average weekly working hours will be 37. The annual salary is £25,951, which includes 5 hours per week paid at the sleep-in rate of £9.39 per hour and a £1,469 anti-social hours enhancement.
Key Responsibilities:
- To support clients using a trauma-informed and recovery-focused approach to learn about their mental health and identify actions that improve and maintain positive wellbeing.
- To support clients in developing life skills including self-care, cleaning, shopping and cooking.
- To develop positive supportive relationships with clients and carry out key-working responsibilities for a small caseload.
- To work alongside key-clients to develop a person-centred support plan that identifies individual, recovery-focused goals, which draws on personal strengths and resources and access to the support available.
- To help develop and continually improve service delivery using a psychologically informed framework.
- To assist in the efficient domestic running of the project.
- To participate in a work rota which can include daytime and night-time sleeping hours, as well as weekends and bank holidays.
Person Specification:
To be successful in the role of Mental Health Recovery Worker you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of BHT Sussex. Some of the key skills and experience you will need include:
- Experience providing emotional and practical support to vulnerable adults who have complex mental health needs.
- Experience safeguarding vulnerable adults
- Ability to provide creative, structured, person-centred and co-produced support and risk management plans.
- Ability to work with a trauma informed, reflective approach.
- A commitment to empowering clients and promoting their choice and independence.
