Bank Cover Worker
We have an exciting opportunity for a Bank Cover Worker to play a vital role in providing support at Archway.
Position: Bank Cover worker
Location: Hove
Hourly Rate: £13.45 (Inclusive of Holiday pay at 12.07%)
Sleeping Nightshift: 10pm to 8am £107.71 (Inclusive of Holiday pay at 12.07%)
Hours: Day shifts 8 hours or 4pm to 8am nightshift
Contract: Bank cover

About the role:
As a Bank Cover Worker, you will be working for a people-led organisation whose mission and values are to inspire change across Sussex.
The Archway Project is a 24-hour residential service comprising of two houses in Hove.
Porland Road is a 9 bed CQC registered residential project for clients with mental health support needs. Clients reside at Portland Road for up to 2 years.
Step-Down is a 5 bed CQC registered project which supports the move of individuals from inpatient services back to the community. Residents are supported with activities of daily living and any social or practical needs for up to a 16 week stay.
Both services have a recovery and person-centred focus, working collaboratively with residents in intensive short-term placements. The aim is to enable people to move on to more independent living within two years.
Bank Cover Workers provide invaluable, relief cover when permanent members of the team are absent. Bank Cover Workers will develop professional relationships with clients based on trust, which will enable effective and empathic emotional support. Bank Cover Workers will provide practical support in a range of areas with an emphasis on clients developing life skills and confidence to live independently. They will ensure the day-to-day running of the service is carried out efficiently and effectively. This will involve dispensing medication, supporting clients to develop and build on their existing daily living skills, towards more independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional and practical support to clients in line with the function and process of service, and respond to urgent support and high-risk situations, as appropriate.
- Supporting clients in developing life skills including self-care, shopping, cooking tenancy management
- Assisting in efficient domestic running of the houses
- Ensuring that records are kept up-to-date and accurate, and an efficient filing system is maintained including the use of appropriate information technology.
- To provide cover to a rota which will include day and late shifts; sleeping night shifts; Weekend work
Person Specification:
To be successful in the role of Bank Cover Worker you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of the organisation. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:
- An understanding of mental health and related issues, including impact on day-to-day life and recovery
- Professional boundaries; safeguarding, accountability, and confidentiality within the workplace.
- Competent use of Microsoft software packages especially Word, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent interpersonal skills on both individual and group levels
- Ability to work proactively and effectively both independently and as a team member
