Hours: 37 hours per week

About Housing Services
Housing Services provides general needs housing to our 430 properties in Hastings, Brighton and Eastbourne. On top of this we also provide a repairs service to our tenants. Income Recovery also comes under the Housing Services umbrella.
Our aim is to provide a high quality and person-centred housing service both in our Community Housing in Brighton and Hastings and our temporary accommodation in Eastbourne and Brighton. Our concept is a well-managed tenancy where landlord and tenant are equitable partners in a business arrangement
About the Role
As Tenancy Sustainment Officer, you will work directly with our tenants to assist them in maintaining their tenancies.
You will provide support to tenants in a variety of ways. This may include assistance with completing Housing Benefit/ Universal Credit applications, helping them access grant funding for white goods or providing foodbank vouchers. You will also be a key support to tenants who are facing high levels of rent arrears.
Key Responsibilities:
· Support tenants to understand and comply with the terms of their tenancy agreements.
· Provide coaching, guidance, and practical support to help tenants maintain their homes and sustain independent living.
· Work proactively with tenants experiencing issues including self-neglect, hoarding, anti-social behaviour (ASB), financial hardship, or vulnerability.
· Carry out welfare visits and develop support plans to reduce tenancy risk and prevent tenancy breakdown.
· Support new tenants with settling into their homes and accessing benefits and services where required
Person Specification:
To be successful in the role of Tenancy Sustainment Officer you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of BHT Sussex. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:
· Experience of working with tenants to maintain tenancies
· Experience within the Housing sector
· An in-depth knowledge of the benefit system
· A working knowledge of available local grant schemes
· Able to demonstrate ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external agencies
