About Route One:
Route One project provides accommodation for 39 clients presenting with a range of mental health diagnoses, including: Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Personality Disorder, Depression, OCD, PTSD, those with multiple complex needs and people experiencing the effects of trauma. The service provides a dynamic, flexible approach to supporting people with mental health and complex needs, incorporating the recovery model, trauma informed care and working within a psychologically informed framework. The service works closely with primary and secondary health services, statutory and third sector services. Multi-agency support and risk reviews are led by each client’s allocated support worker.
About the Role
The Deputy Manager will assist with the day-to-day management of Route One with the Operational Manager and the second Deputy Manager, take responsibility for specified projects in agreement with the Management team and deputise in their absence. The Deputy Manager will manage the Supported Tenancy Scheme which currently supports 2 clients, the scheme is anticipated to expand.
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist the Management team in the recruitment of staff, cover staff and others to the project in accordance with recruitment policies and procedures.
- To undertake timely de-brief sessions with staff post-incident and conduct preventative meetings to ensure the wellbeing of staff, including reflective practice sessions.
- To provide regular supervision and perform all staff-related tasks, including induction, probationary interviews, appraisals and performance reviews or disciplinary issues, as required. The Deputy Manager will supervise the Mental Health and Housing Coordinators who keywork Supported Tenancy clients as well as Route One clients.
- To ensure that the Route One team are working in line with best practice and within a Trauma Informed and Psychologically Informed Framework
- To assist the Management team with all aspects of financial management, including arrears and bad debts, client recharges, invoices, ordering of stocks and value for money.
- To ensure that the service delivers a responsive approach to crisis management and support intervention which may include the need for flexible working out of hours.
- To provide telephone support to clients in need or distress, signposting and notifying external agencies as necessary, recording all notes onto Inform and updating risk assessments as appropriate.
- To ensure that the best possible quality and standard of support is provided for clients, within a trauma-informed and psychologically informed framework.
- To assist the Management team in ensuring structures are in place to promote client involvement, access to work and learning, and enhance move on opportunities for all clients.
Person Specification:
To be successful in the role of Deputy Manager you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of BHT Sussex. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:
- Significant experience of working with clients with mental health and/or multiple complex support needs.
- Professional boundaries; safeguarding, accountability, and confidentiality within the workplace.
- Client referral and assessment skills as well as knowledge of citywide Housing Providers.
- Ability to offer a responsive approach to crisis management work which will include being part of an `on call’ management rota and may also require out of hours working during a crisis.
- To provide regular supervision and perform all staff-related tasks, including induction, probationary interviews, appraisals and performance reviews or disciplinary issues, as required.
