We have an exciting opportunity for a Choir Manager to play a vital role in providing support at our partnership with Choir with No Name’s Brighton choir.

Position: Choir Manager ( Choir with No Name Brighton)

Location: BHT Offices and All Saints church Hove (Monday night)

Salary: £28,926 full time equivalent (pro rata)

Hours: 20 hours per week 

Contract: 12 month Fixed term contract

About the Choir With No Name

CWNN has been running choirs and building joyful musical communities involving homeless and marginalised people since 2008, and they currently have choirs in Birmingham, Liverpool, London, Cardiff, Brighton Coventry and Sheffield. The Brighton choir is run as a proud partnership with BHT Sussex and boasts the amazing Christmas Singalong as its main gig each year. The choir is run on the premise that singing makes you feel good; it distracts you from all the nonsense in life and helps you to build confidence, skills and genuine, long-lasting friendships. The choir rehearses each week, 47 weeks of the year, and they also share a meal together at the end of rehearsal.

About the Role

This is an exciting and varied role working with our choir director, members and volunteers to support the safe and inclusive running of weekly rehearsals. You do not need any experience of running a choir or leading musically as this is not the role, but a love for music is important. You will need to be available to attend Monday night rehearsals in Hove and ideally have experience working with adults who have experienced homelessness or been through hard times. We are looking for someone with impeccable organisational skills and the ability to multitask, as well the ability to take a creative approach to delivering inclusive group activities. Experience in volunteer and project/event management is desirable as is the love of music and an understanding and commitment to the positive impact of singing and eating together.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support choir members and develop lasting positive relationships.
• Ensure safe, supportive and welcoming weekly rehearsal, workshop and gig environments are maintained.
• Recruit and manage a team of volunteers overseeing the weekly rota and ensuring all roles are filled each week.
• With the Choir Director and choir members, event manage and promote choir gigs and events.
• Maintain up to date and accurate attendance records and oversee the cashflow budget for the choir.

Person Specification:

To be successful in the role of Choir Manager you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of BHT Sussex. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:

• Highly motivated self-starter with initiative to make things happen
• Demonstrate an understanding and knowledge of working with people who have experienced complex trauma
• Ability to act calmly and decisively in emergencies, and to work positively with everyone.
• Digitally literate (e.g. Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, social media)
• Ability to align with Choir with No Name’s values of family, fun, integrity and collaboration
