We have an exciting opportunity for a Work Placement Coordinator to play a vital role in providing support at our Accommodation for Work Project.
Position: Work Placement Coordinator
Location: Brighton
Salary: £20,699 (£25,529 per annum, pro rata)
Hours: 30 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

As a Work Placement Coordinator you will be working for a people-led organisation whose mission and values is to inspire change across Sussex.
About the Project
BHT Sussex’s Accommodation for Work project aims to help people who have experienced homelessness into employment and independent accommodation. This innovative and exciting project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund.
Working with people who feel they are ready to make a positive change and move their lives forward, the project offers temporary shared accommodation and support with work and learning.
About the Role
The Work Placement Coordinator will be responsible for the development, day-to-day running, and coordination of the Get Ready for Work Placement Programme, including providing support for clients and placement providers. As part of the Accommodation for Work Project the role will also have the opportunity to be involved in other aspects of the project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- With the Operational Manager, to be responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of the Work Placement Programme.
- To research and identify new placement providers from a range of sectors including public sector, private sector and third sector.
- To promote the Work Placement Programme to Accommodation for Work Project residents and to people living in supported accommodation in the city.
- To promote excellence in all aspects of the Work Placement Programme design and delivery, enabling and empowering clients to strive for, and believe that, work is a realistic and attainable goal.
Person Specification:
To be successful in the role of Work Placement Coordinator you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of BHT Sussex. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:
- Experience of working with people who have multiple and complex needs such as rough sleeping, addiction issues, physical or mental health difficulties, personality disorders, dual diagnosis, trauma, or offending.
- Experience of effective joint working with private, statutory, and voluntary organisations.
- An understanding of how to overcome barriers that participants may face in accessing employment.
- Ability to plan work, work independently, and prioritise competing demands.
