We have an exciting opportunity for a Recovery Worker to play a vital role in providing support at our Mid Sussex Supported Housing Service.

Salary: £25,529 (Part time pro-rata, Permanent)
Hours: 15 hours per week

About:
As a Recovery Worker, you will be working for a people-led organisation whose mission and values is to inspire change across Sussex. Mid Sussex Supported Housing Service provides accommodation to adults in Mid Sussex who have presented as homeless to Mid Sussex District Council. Residents are placed within the service to gain the skills required to live without support in the community.
About the Role:
We are seeking a Recovery Worker to join the Mid Sussex Supported Housing team in supporting clients and assisting with the day to day running of the three properties. Clients are placed within the service for up to six months, during this time staff will support clients on their identified needs through support planning with a focus on looking for more permanent accommodation, learning the skills required to maintain a tenancy agreement and ensuring the client is accessing the relevant support for their health and wellbeing.
In addition to the work with clients the role also requires providing an enhanced housing management role focusing on the buildings, rent monitoring and reporting of repairs to ensure properties are maintained at a high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- To provide intensive housing management, including tenancy, rent, money management skills.
- To liaise with colleagues as well as statutory personnel in housing departments, care teams, and police where appropriate.
- To encourage selfcare and self-management for all clients within their home environment
- To lone work with clients in specified accommodation to be part of a wider staffing team.
- To work closely alongside all professionals involved with the clients case to raise concerns/alerts regarding any signs of issues relating to client wellbeing or placement.
Person Specification:
To be successful in the role of recovery worker you will need to have great communication skills and be committed to the values of BHT Sussex. Some of the key skills and experience you will need to bring with you include:
- Ability to motivate, enable and empower individuals
- Ability to appreciate and safely manage an individual’s needs and risk issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrable self-awareness and professionalism
- To be flexible and adaptable to change where necessary
